Project
"Dimensionalism" and the ENP
In light of the Eastern enlargement of the European Union, concerns over how this organisation will deal with increasing diversity of interests towards regions in its near abroad have gained prominence. Symptomatic of this fact is the emergence of the European Neighbourhood Policy, which brings together countries along all the perimeter of the new external border. This project investigates how individual member states reconcile their specific diplomatic interest in regions neighbouring the EU with the external priorities of this organisation in the same geographic areas, and, in particular, their attempts to put forward specific “dimensions” of CFSP. With this purpose, Presidency of the Council held by Portugal and Finland as well as the project of EU Eastern Dimension formulated by Poland will be investigated.
